Thomas W. Johnson, 66, of Kalamazoo, passed away Monday, June 10, 2024, at his home in North Kalamazoo. Thom was born December 24, 1957, in Kalamazoo, the son of Robert Johnson and Joan (Reed) Corbin. Thom was a 1976 graduate of Portage Northern High School and soon after enlisted in the United States Navy where he served in the Navy Construction Battalion, also known as the Seabees, retiring after 20 years of service. He served in various locations around the United States and internationally. Following his military service, Thom drove truck locally and was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. After retiring from truck driving, he became an avid collector of all things useful and spent his time driving around the neighborhood in his Gator, sparking up conversations with anyone he met.
Thom is survived by his wife, Suzanne (Morgan) Johnson; three children, Jeffrey Johnson (Amber), Joshua Johnson (Karrie), and Jason Johnson; three siblings, Robert, Denny, and Marlene Johnson; and his beloved dogs, Yukon and Adak. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Adams-Redmond-Parchment Funeral Home, 2300 E. G Avenue, Parchment, MI. Thom will be laid to rest with full military honors at 2 pm on Monday, June 24, 2024 at Fort Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Road, Augusta, MI 49012. Memorial contributions may be directed to the AFSP, American Legion Hall, or the Kalamazoo Humane Society.
