Ruth J. Locey

Passed away November 30, 2021 at Medilodge Kalamazoo. Mrs. Locey was born March 21, 1926 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Franklin and Mary Abbott. Ruth was a lifelong resident of Kalamazoo; she was a member of St. Joseph Church and a graduate of St. Augustine High School. She is survived by her son Paul Locey, daughters Kathleen Strobel and Sheila Locey, grandchildren Michelle and Nicole Locey and Jeremy Bloomquist and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Neil, two sons John and Richard, a grandson Eric Cashen, a granddaughter, Christina Cashen, brothers Frank, Robert, Leo, James and Jack, sisters Gloria and Harriet. Ruth worked in the swimming pool equipment business for years and spoke fondly of the many longtime customers. Her favorite hobby was gardening and she enjoyed sharing the vegetables and flowers with friends. Ruth’s wishes were to be cremated. A private interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
