Robert George Burhans

Robert G. Burhans passed away Wednesday April 17, 2019 at Rose Arbor Hospice. Robert was born February 11, 1939 in Kalamazoo the son of Robert and Edith (Gallagher) Burhans. He graduated in 1958 from St. Mary’s Cathedral High School in Lansing and served in the U.S. Navy for over 24 years including two tours in Vietnam as a navy medic connected to the marines. Robert was a member of Plainwell VFW Post #9713 and St. Monica’s Catholic Church where he served as a Scout Master for many years and guided several scouts to the rank of Eagle Scout. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Victor Burhans. Surviving are a brother, Jon (Catherine) Burhans of Portage; three sisters, Joan Pipes of Parchment, Karen Pennington of Lawton; Martha (Lewis) Turner of Lawton and Sister In Law; Karen Burhans ;several nieces & nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated 11 AM Thursday April 25, 2019 at St. Monica Catholic Church. Interment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
