Richard Joseph Pitera

Richard Joseph Pitera, 59 of Portage Michigan, passed away on July 17, 2020 in his home. Rick was born in Chicago, Illinois to Richard and Maryann Pitera on September 27, 1961. He worked as a mechanic for Schuhardt Automotive for many years. Rick enjoyed NASCAR racing, Christmas and the Fourth of July fireworks , for which he was famous for among his neighbors , and fishing with his Dad and Brian. Loved to spoil his neices, especially at Christmas and working on cars. Everyone loved his sense of humor and his big heart. Rick is survived by his sister, Cammy (Brian) Pine of Portage, Michigan; and two nieces: Lacie (Carlos) Pine-Fernandez and Candace Pine. Visitation will be held at Redmond Funeral Home 4100 S. Westnedge Ave. Kalamazoo, MI 49008 on Thursday, July 23rd 2020 from 5:00 p.m- 8:00p.m. Funeral services will be held at St. Catherine of Sienna on Friday, July 24, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Father Jeff Hanley of St. Catherine of Sienna officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Decatur, Michigan. Memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
