Peter William Farrell

Peter W. Farrell of Kalamazoo passed away April 23, 2017 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. Peter was born on August 24, 1949, in Buffalo, New York to William and Rita Farrell and died on April 23, 2017. He was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by brothers Michael (Annie) and Kevin and sister Sheila Farrell, nieces Kelly and Susan Scavone and many cousins. His family moved to Kalamazoo where he graduated from Loy Norrix High School in 1967, a member of the varsity tennis team. He obtained his Bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and Master's degrees from the University of Michigan and Western Michigan University. He had been an Assistant Professor at the University of Virginia. An avid reader, he enjoyed the Kalamazoo Public Library, particularly the Local History Room and its gracious and dedicated staff. He was devoted to his faith and regularly attended the First Assembly of God Church in Portage. Peter's family would like to acknowledge the assistance provided by the staff at Bronson Hospital. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Peter's memory to the Kalamazoo Public Library, 315 S. Rose Street, Kalamazoo 49007. A memorial service will be held at the First Assembly of God Church in Portage this Saturday, May 20, at 11:15 a.m. Arrangements by Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S.
