Passed away Friday September 27, 2019 at Borgess Place. Patricia was born September 9, 1929 in Detroit, the daughter of Charles and Mildred (McClelland) Reynolds. On September 30, 1950, in Detroit, Patricia was united in marriage to James Shannon, who preceded her in death on July 23, 1996. The couple was blessed with five children. Anyone who knew Jim and Pat knew their relentless devotion to each other, their family and their faith. Pat and her family moved to Kalamazoo in 1963. Shortly thereafter, Pat was employed by Meijer, where she retired after 25 years. Jim and Pat spent their retirement traveling the state and country, adventuring by car and camping in many state and national parks. Pat was endlessly devoted to her family. Her memory was remarkable, and she never missed a birthday, always sending a card to each of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all of their spouses. She could always be counted on for prayers and advice. For many years, Pat volunteered at Borgess Hospital. She was also a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and The Red Hat Society. She enjoyed reading and was a diehard fan of her beloved Notre Dame football. All who knew Pat will remember her selflessness, devotion to family and faith and her genuine sense of humor. Pat's family thanks the staff of Borgess Place for their care and the parishioners of St. Ambrose who visited and served the Eucharist. Preceding her in death was her son, Patrick Shannon, in 2002 and her sister, Rosemary Brode. Surviving are four children, Dan (Gail) Shannon of Kalamazoo, Mike (Gerry) Shannon of St. Joseph, Kevin (Sherry) Shannon of Lansing, Donna (Donald) Carrier of Kalamazoo; sixteen grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one niece.
