Patricia Ann Kubizna has peacefully left her earthly home February 23, 2021 and begun her eternal journey. Pat was born July 14, 1928, in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Thomas and Gertrude (Haas) Dennany. Except for a short stay Jackson, Michigan as a child, Pat lived her whole in Kalamazoo. She attended St. Joseph School in Kalamazoo through the 10th grade and graduated high school at St. Augustine in 1945. Pat began her working career in the heart of old Washington Square, Robinson’s 5 and 10 Cent Store, behind the candy counter. From there, Pat worked for various insurance companies as well as Town and Country Grocery Store. Pat went on to return to her beloved St. Joseph School for 36 years, until its closure in 2005. Pat’s “title” was School Secretary, which meant being a nurse, teacher, record keeper, messenger, playground and lunchroom supervisor, as well as beloved friend and ambassador to hundreds of students and families. On August 31, 1946, Pat married Joseph Kubizna at St. Joseph Church, Kalamazoo. Joseph preceded her in death, as well as her parents. Surviving Patricia are two sons with whom she was very pleased, James and Robert and two furry pals. Pat also leaves behind her close friends, Diane Matyas and her siblings Dave, Paul, Bob and Debbie. Pat was famous for her excellent handwriting skills and her love of writing letters to her many friends. Eschewing “modern technology”, Pat was well known for her long-hand notations and typewritten messages. Pat’s family would like to extend a thank you to the employees of Medi Lodge of Portage for their care of Pat during her stay at the facility. In memory of Mrs. K’s assurance that all children had a healthy lunch, please send donations to the lunch program for Hackett Catholic Prep High School, 1000 W. Kilgore, Kalamazoo, MI 49008, or St. Joseph Catholic Church Food Pantry. A Celebration of Life for Patricia Kubizna will be held on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 (Pat's birthday!) 4-7 pm, At Jac's on South Westnedge in Portage.
