Nicholas Cekola

Nicholas (Nick) Cekola was born on July 17th 1959 and passed away peacefully on February 15th 2022 surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Kalamazoo, Nick was the oldest child of Dolores and Joseph Cekola. Nick was kind, gentle, and full of love for others. Born with Down Syndrome, he approached life with a child-like joy. Nick loved all things related to Bingo, Elvis, Birthdays, and his family. He started each day with a call to every one of his five siblings and ended every night with a prayer for those who needed it most. For those of you who were lucky enough to know Nick, it's guaranteed that you got one of his famous "I was just thinking about you!". Friends will be received 5-7 pm Wednesday March 16, 2022 at Redmond Funeral Home, Kalamazoo where a Rosary will be recited at 7 pm. An additional visitation will be 10 - 11 am Thursday March 17, 2022 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated following at 11 am. A luncheon will immediately follow Mass at St. Catherine Marian Hall. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Joseph A. Cekola Fund through Kalamazoo Foundation. www.redmondfuneralhomes.net
