Nancy Jean Springer

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Nancy Jean Springer, age 84, of Portage.  Nancy passed away peacefully at home on January 27, 2024, surrounded by family. Nancy was born in Grand Rapids, MI on April 20,1939, daughter of Harry Sr. and Jean (Bowen) Baisch.  Nancy was a stay at home mother raising her five children and a day care provider for many years.  Nancy was a happy lady and could have a conversation with anyone.  Nancy had a love of the sun, swimming, cats and of course her love of cake. Nancy and her husband Les were avid square and round dancers for many years. Nancy always had her home decorated for every holiday.  She was preceded in death by daughter Barbara Flower, son Kevin Salik, grandson Tyler Flower, son in law Steve Hutson, brother Harry Baisch Jr. and her parents. Remaining to cherish her memory are her beloved husband Lester, whom she married October 27,1967; her adored children Wendy (Mark) Anderson of Scotts, Sheri Hutson of Portage, Scott (Carla) Springer of Battle Creek, step daughter Kristi Kandow of Caledonia, son in law Craig (Sue) Flower of Augusta;  grandchildren Rowan Salik, Evan and Grant Anderson, Meghan Hallmark, Ryan (Crystal) Harrington, Taylor (Trevor) Root, Sara Alexander, Skylar and Hunter Springer, Courtney and Morgan Flower; great grandchildren Braxton and Tucker Hallmark. Cremation has taken place.  A celebration of Nancy's life will take place at a later date. Arrangements by Redmond Funeral Home, Kalamazoo. www.redmondfuneralhomes.net
