With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Michael (Mike) William Kaminski, a decorated Marine and esteemed Union Sprinkler Fitter. Born in Kalamazoo on April 30, 1947, to Frances (Brennan) Kaminski, and departed from this world on January 20, 2024.
A cherished husband, Mike married Constance (Topoll) on October 23, 1971, they shared 52 years of marriage, love, and companionship.
In every sense, Mike was a devoted father. Together, Mike and Connie created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering support. Mike was the anchor of his family, and his legacy lives on through his three children: Mikie (wife Alisha), Christie (husband Mike) Town, and Nikki, his grandchildren: Connor, Kaitlin, Davis, and Jayden, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws: Walter and Judy Topoll, Mike and Sally Topoll, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mike was a proud graduate of Galesburg-Augusta High School, and soon after, he answered the call to duty by serving two tours in Vietnam as a dedicated Marine. His courage, commitment, and sacrifice during those years were a testament to his unwavering patriotism and love for his country.
Following his distinguished military service, Mike found a second home in Local 669, where he built a successful 55-year career as a Union Sprinkler Fitter. His skill, work ethic, and camaraderie left an enduring impact on the union and the industry, earning him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. Mike took pride in his work, ensuring the safety of others and contributing to the infrastructure that sustains our communities.
Mike was predeceased by his mother, Frances (Brennan) Kaminski, sister and brother-in-law Karen and David Cox.
In recognition of Mike's private and humble nature, the family will hold a private memorial service at Fort Custer National Cemetery to honor his memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Kairos Dwelling House in Kalamazoo or a hospice organization in Mike's honor.
May Mike rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the gratitude of a nation he served, the camaraderie of brothers and sisters in the union, and the enduring love of his family. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those fortunate to know him.
