Maureen F. Murry

Maureen F. Murry, 94, of Portage, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Vineyards Assisted Living. Maureen was born July 6, 1930 in Dowagiac, Michigan, the daughter of the late Joseph and Frances (Lohroff) Schonbok. Maureen was a 1948 graduate of Decatur High School. She married Emery N. Murry, who preceded her in death on July 1, 2004. She was a huge fan of watching old westerns and enjoyed traveling and spending the winters in Myrtle Beach with Emery. Maureen was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Portage. She was also active with the Senior Center of Portage and went on many of their organized trips.

Maureen is survived by two sons, Steven Murry of Raleigh, NC and Michael (Deborah) Murry of Scottsdale, AZ; her grandson, Matthew (Suzanne) Murry of Phoenix, AZ; her beloved great grandson, Cameron Murry; a brother, Joseph Schonbok of Niles; a brother-in-law, Andy Chilla of Irving, TX; and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, October 28, 2024 from 10 – 11 AM at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1150 W. Centre Ave., Portage, MI 49024. Services will follow at 11 AM at the church, Deacon Ron Brown officiating. Interment will take place immediately following the service at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of your choice.
