Matthew Lynn Moore, age 48, passed away Sunday, February 18th, at Ascension Borgess Hospital, surrounded by his wife and three sons. He was born October 10, 1975 to Diane (Thompson) Moore and Gary Moore in Denver, Colorado, although his family moved soon after to the beautiful mountains of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, where he loved to camp with his family and ski. His favorite hobbies included camping, building LEGOs, reading science fiction novels, and walking with his dog, Lucky. Matthew’s and Rhonda’s dream was to hike the Appalachian Trail and they had spent the last several years collecting all the necessary equipment for the trip. He LOVED anything related to Star Wars and was passionate about his work as a civil engineer. Matthew spent 22 years working for Interstate Highway Construction building highways and runways for military bases and Detroit and Denver International Airports. For the last few years, Matthew had been happily employed at Anlaan Corporation, traveling all over Michigan to oversee the safety of the company’s bridgework. He is survived by his wife, Rhonda (Raynes) Moore, son Charlie Moore, stepsons Andrew (Pamela) Brown and Christopher Brown, twin granddaughters, Everly and Ruby Brown, mother Diane (Thompson) Moore, brother Justin (Elsy) Moore, Grandmother Lovie “Smiles” Thompson, and enumerate aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Matthew will be missed by the many who knew and loved him, including his beloved sidekick, Lucky. The family is planning a celebration of his life to be held at a later time in both Colorado and Michigan.
