Margaret Mary Brigman

Passed away Wednesday November 21, 2018 at Woodside, Friendship Village. Margaret was born September 20, 1919 in Garrison, ND the daughter of Peter and Magdalen (Reuter) Kerzman. She graduated as an RN from St Michaels Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. After graduation she worked for 2 years in Flint, MI. Margaret was a WWII veteran with the U.S. Army Nurse Corps, serving first in Chicago where she was tasked with setting up the initial Operating Room at Gardner General Army Hospital. It was there she met Arthur Brigman whom she married in September 1944. Soon after her wedding she was deployed to France, landing in Normandy mid-October and serving in Rouen during the Battle of the Bulge. Margaret retired from the Kalamazoo Psychiatric Hospital after 30 years, was a member of St. Augustine Cathedral, volunteered at Loaves and Fishes, Discovery Shop and was a member of the Kalamazoo Garden Club. Margaret was proceeded in death by husband Arthur Brigman, her two sons, Wayne (Sandy) and Mark (Dorothy) Brigman; four brothers, Francis, Paul, James and Ralph Kerzman; two sisters, Grace Burk and Rita Vreeland. Surviving are two daughters, Merita (Daniel) Gabriel of Portage, Marilyn (Larry) Schutz of Kalamazoo; sister, Irene Wilcox of Garrison, ND; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated 10 am Thursday December 6, 2018 at St. Augustine Cathedral. Interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery at 2:45 pm.
