Mr. Valentine died July 21, 2022, at home surrounded by his loving family. Lew was born in Cleveland, OH on July 22, 1934, the son of Charles and Theresa (Dinunzio) Valentine. He graduated from Case Western Reserve as an engineer and went on to spend his entire career with Eaton Corporation, ultimately retiring as an International Sales Manager. He was a proud parishioner of St. Monica Catholic Church, he volunteered at both Bronson and Borgess Hospitals as a Eucharistic minister and compassionately participated in the No One Dies Alone Program. Lew is survived by his Wife Lynne with whom they recently celebrated 65 years of marriage. Also surviving are his children: Lewis & Debbie Valentine of Columbus, OH, Maribeth & John Dottore of Richmond, VA, Teri & Mark Twilling of Portage, MI, Keith Valentine of Del Mar, CA, and former daughter-in-law: Lynne Valentine of Encinitas, CA. Lew had 10 grandchildren that were the love of his life. He yearned for updates on their life, especially their dating status, while providing great advice and meaningful stories of his life experiences. These grandchildren understood faith and love: Charles, Brittany, Brian, Karen, Mark, Christopher, Abby, Kaileigh, Graham and Colton. Lew was also blessed with 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother: Charles & Joan Valentine of Naples, FL, and several nieces & nephews. In addition to being a very social, outgoing person, Lew was a devout Catholic who enjoyed his daily readings. His wit, compassion, and great listening skills will be missed by many. He would always recognize good people as a “class act”. The Lord now has our Class Act safely in His hands. Friends will be received Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at St. Monica Catholic Church in Kalamazoo, MI, from 10:30am until Funeral Mass time of 11am. Fr. Russell Homic Celebrant. Lew’s final resting will take place on Wednesday, July 27, at 2:30pm at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon, OH. In lieu of flowers, please provide memorials to Tunnel to Towers Foundation (t2t.org).
