Karen M. Gucma

Karen M. Gucma, 60, of Kalamazoo, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at Sue’s Loving Care in Kalamazoo. Karen was born October 15, 1964 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of John and Mary (Geiger) Gucma. She was a 1982 graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School. Upon graduating she continued her education at Davenport University while taking on a variety of administrative office roles. Karen was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Parchment and she was an avid cat lover and fondly remembered her special cat, Chloe. Karen was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis approximately 20 years ago, and even though it brought many challenges and her ultimate decline, she bravely fought the disease and its physical effects with grace and courage.

Karen is survived by her two brothers and their spouses, James and Rhonda Gucma of Portage, and Thomas and Karen K. Gucma, of Summerville, SC. She was preceded in death by her father in 1995 and her mother in 2021. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no public services. She will be laid to rest with her parents at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in a small ceremony at a future date. Memorial contributions may be directed to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Michigan Chapter.
