John L. Mulay

John L. Mulay passed away Sunday December 15, 2019 at Rose Arbor Hospice surrounded by his family. John was born January 23, 1946 in Pueblo, CO the son of Carl and Rose (Izzarelli) Mulay. He was a professor of Public Speaking and Interpersonal Communication at Kalamazoo Valley Community College for 34 years. A celebrated and seasoned master of the kitchen, he privately owned John Mulay Catering.  John also loved to perform and appeared in productions at Farmers Alley Theatre, the Kalamazoo Civic Theatre, and KVCC. On April 12, 1969 in Pueblo, CO John was united in marriage to Kathy (Salerno) Mulay who survives. Also surviving are two children, Denene Mulay (Jeremy) Koch of Portage; Brian Mulay of New York, NY, two grandchildren, Jason and Carly Koch; and brother-in-law, Tony Salerno of Kalamazoo. Growing up with a large extended family, John learned the importance of family and traditions which he has passed on to his children and grandchildren. From birth to death John nourished the people around him with love, faith, and good food. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
