Janice K. Wheeler

Janice K. Wheeler, 83, of Kalamazoo, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo. Jan was born May 27, 1941 in Allegan, the daughter of Brice and Beatrice (Lemon) Olcott. She was a graduate of Allegan High School and worked in various retail establishments in the Kalamazoo area. Jan was a member of Grace Spring Bible Church for 22 years, where she served on the prayer team and as a greeter for many years. She loved Jesus and spreading the Good News, and enjoyed working word-find puzzles. Most of all Jan loved her family and was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Jan is survived by her husband of 48 years, Paul “Chris” Wheeler; two children, Carolyn (Michael) Wolski and Charles (Amy) Hopkins; four grandchildren, Michael Dean, Angel Hopkins, Charley Hopkins and Billy Hopkins; two great grandchildren, Brice Dean and Aleyse Hopkins; two siblings, Robert (Gary) Olcott and Patricia (BJ) Jenkins; and her beloved dog, Zak. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Services for Jan will be held Monday, September 30, 2024 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 1628 E. G Avenue, Parchment, MI 49004. Family and friends may gather at the church from 10-11 AM which will be followed by a memorial Mass at 11 AM. She will be laid to rest at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kalamazoo. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Dementia Society of America or to the SPCA of Southwest Michigan.
