James "Jim" Ray Hill, 80, of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Passed away Saturday, February 24, 2024 at home. Jim was born March 21, 1943 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He is the son of Lindell William Monroe and Virena Pearl (Caldwell) Hill. He graduated from Richland High School and attended Michigan Technical Institute in Delton, Michigan, where he studied Dental Technology. Jim worked for City of Parchment in the City Services Department and he also owned Jim & Son’s Lawn Care and Snow Plowing, he refurbished and sold vacuum cleaners; and he enjoyed woodworking, graded pencil drawing, oil painting and acrylic painting. He was a deacon at Temple Baptist Church (TBC) for 27 years and a member there since 1973. On July 25, 1964, in Kalamazoo, Jim was united in marriage to the former Sandra "Sandy" Kay Roberts who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Todd T. Hill, Brian H. (Tammy) Hill; family in heart ~ "The Girls" Beth and Laurie VanDenBos; three grandchildren, Laurissa "Rosebud" (Zach) Roberts, Andrew Hill, Sarah Hill; great-grandson, Malcolm; sister, Patricia (Daniel) Fales; several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Virena Hill, father Lindell Hill, brother Lindell Lee Hill, and a granddaughter Jordan Ashley Hill and other family members. Friends will be received for visitation 11 am – 12 pm Monday, March 4, 2024 at Temple Baptist Church (3706 Mt. Olivet, Kalamazoo, Mich. 49004) where services will follow at 12:00 Noon. Interment will be in East Cooper Cemetery. Then there will be a luncheon at TBC. Memorial contributions may be made to Temple Baptist Church. Arrangements by Parchment Redmond Funeral Home.
