James Eccles, Jr.

James Norman Eccles Jr., 65, of Parchment, passed away Monday, December 16, 2024 in Westland, Michigan. He was born June 13, 1959, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the son of James Eccles, Sr. and Shirley (Greene) Eccles. Jim lived in and around the Kalamazoo area his entire life. He was a graduate of Loy Norrix High School where he excelled in athletics and set records playing hockey. He continued playing hockey into his adult years. In addition to hockey, Jim was an all-around sports fan. His true passion was music, in fact Jim got his first guitar when he was just eight years old. He was a talented musician and was part of several bands over the years. His talent went far beyond athletics and music. Jim worked for many years installing carpet and flooring. He was an expert when it came to measuring and getting things fitted to perfection. In his down time, Jim always loved fishing. Although Jim struggled with addiction throughout his life, he found sobriety in his later years and died sober. 

Jim is survived by his two sisters, Evelyn Eccles and Eloise Eccles; his daughter, Janna; granddaughter, Hanna; step son, Bryce; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife Amy in 1985. 

Cremation has taken place. The Jim Eccles Rock & Roll Celebration has been set for Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 7pm - 11pm at the VFW Post 422, 10353 Stoney Point Dr. Delton, MI 49046. For more information, please refer to www.facebook.com/strandedhobomusic.
