Ida M. Ballentine of Kalamazoo passed away Thursday February 20, 2020 at home. Ida was born August 27, 1927 in Ypsilanti the daughter of Carl and Anna (Sprague) Dolbee. She was an activity director for Birch Manor later known as Borgess Nursing Home then she was a cafeteria server at Comstock Schools for many years. Ida volunteered at the Kalamazoo Air Zoo and she was an avid Tiger Baseball fan, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking and especially spending time with her grandchildren. On July 19, 1946 in Kalamazoo, Ida was united in marriage to Eugene Ballentine who preceded her in death on April 19, 1991. Also preceding her were two brothers, Charles and Carl Dolbee and a sister, Thelma Nutter. Surviving are four children, Larry Ballentine, Steve (Linda) Ballentine, James Ballentine Sr, Faye (Jim) Hayes; brother, Gerald Dolbee; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews. Friends will be received 2-4 & 6-8 pm Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at Parchment Redmond Funeral Home where services will be held at 1 pm Wednesday February 26, 2020. Interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Reception to follow at Kalamazoo Air Zoo. Memorial contributions may be made to Kalamazoo Air Zoo or the American Cancer Society.
