Hope Marie Rafferty

Hope Marie Rafferty passed away peacefully on Saturday January 22, 2022 at Rose Arbor after a long battle with dementia. She was born August 29, 1931 in Patton, PA the daughter of Harry and Bessie (Smart) Baker. Hope, named such, as she was the youngest of 15 and her dad was hoping she was the last. Headed to Kalamazoo with 3 of her siblings, there she met the love of her life, Paul Rafferty and they were married on June 27, 1953 in Schoolcraft, then went on to have 3 children, Paul (Marianne) Rafferty, Bruce Rafferty, and Donna (Bill) James. Hope enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous friends. If you met her you loved her and she adopted you into her family. She never missed an opportunity for a joke or a garage sale, and brought joy to so many through the years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul , daughter in law, Rhonda , 9 brothers; 4 sisters. She is survived by her 3 children; grandchildren, Jennifer (Nathan), Elizabeth (Jonathan) Kaitlyn (Joseph), William (Kristin), Jason, Andrew and Christina, as well as 9 great-grandchildren, Dylan, Lucas, Savannah, Rudolph, Sophia, Lydia, Scarlett, Tristan and Grace; many nieces & nephews, and honorary family members. Due to circumstances of Covid-19 a celebration of life service will take place at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church at a later date.
