Harry A. Thomas, Jr. of Portage passed away in the loving arms of his sister, Dorothy Sisson, Tuesday July 11, 2017 in Kalamazoo. Harry was born July 30, 1946 in Brooklyn, NY the son of Harry and Frances (George) Thomas. He attended Lawton High School and was a Vietnam veteran serving in the U.S. Army. Harry was a life-long truck driver, and he enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson Motorcycle, working on cars, woodworking and computers. He was united in marriage in 1968 in Kalamazoo to the former Juanita Spencer who preceded him in death in 1981. Also preceding him in death was a sister, Theresa Gunther. Surviving are two children, Ronald Buell of Kalamazoo, Kellie Kidd of Portage; son-in-law, Michael Thompson Sr. of Portage; adopted daughter, Penny Rodriguez; sister, Dorothy Sisson of Paw Paw; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; many nieces & nephews; dear, loving friend, Judy McWatters. Friends will be received 4-8 pm Sunday July 16, 2017 at Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S. Westnedge Ave. Kalamazoo, MI 49008 (269) 343-6156, and a funeral service will occur at 11 am on Monday, July 17 at Christian Assembly of God, Portage with Pastor Ted Mitchell officiating.
