Gerald A. Kurth, 83, of Climax, passed away June 12, 2024 at his home. Gerald was born March 26, 1941 in Salem, Oregon, the son of Wilbert and Annabelle (Sing) Kurth. He worked as an operations manager for Mead School and Office Supply Company, retiring after 43 years. It was while working for Mead that Gerald met the former JoAnn Baum, whom he married in Richland on July 16, 1982. Gerald enjoyed woodworking, fishing and hunting and was a member of Chapman Memorial Church in Vicksburg, where his ministry was building everything from cabinets to VBS backgrounds.
Gerald is survived by his wife of 41 years, JoAnn Kurth; two daughters, Theresa East and Shelley Deiter; three grandchildren, Ryen Dieter, Racheal Deiter and Rebecca Deiter; five great grandchildren, Landyn Deiter, Evelynn Cox, Caleb Mirshak, Nova Deiter, and Reagen Deiter; a sister, Gloria (Michael) Brokke; and two nieces, Amanda O’Callaghan and Christina Moudy. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Anthony Kurth, and a brother, William Kurth.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at 11 AM at Chapman Memorial Church, 7520 E. U Avenue, Vicksburg, MI 49097. Family and friends are welcome to gather from 10-11 AM at the church. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Bloomingdale, at 2 PM. Memorial contributions may be directed to Chapman Memorial Church or the American Lung Association.
