Gerald W. “Jerry” Zeiger 73 of Kalamazoo, formerly of Paw Paw entered into eternal life on Friday, November 13, 2020. Jerry was born October 27, 1947 the son of the late Wesley Jr. and Elizabeth “Betty” Zeiger. He lived in Paw Paw, MI from 1993 until moving to the Kalamazoo area in December 2019. Jerry honorably served his country as a member of the US Marine Corps serving in Vietnam and Japan. He was a voracious reader and enjoyed photography, wood-crafting and wood-working. Jerry began his engineering career as an apprentice at Weldun International while in high school and then went on to become a Vice President. After retirement he loved spending time in his garden and volunteering at the American Legion Post #68 in Paw Paw of which he was a lifetime member. Jerry was a benevolent, gracious gentleman. Surviving is his wife of 27 years, Melanie (Thompson); 3 children, Tracy (Miles) Nelson, Jeremy (Karen) Zeiger, Jen (Dennis) Mallette; 6 grandchildren, Tyler, Logan, Katie, Emalie, Lauren and Caleb; siblings, Pat, Suzy, Bob (Brenda) and sisters-in-law, Donna and Cathy. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Tom and Den and a daughter, Jessica (Matt) Jensen. A private service, due to Covid-19 restictions, will be held at Redmond Funeral Home, Kalamazoo with interment to follow at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Sue’s Loving Care, The First Congregational Church of Bangor or Paw Paw American Legion Post #68.
