Georgette Stanaszek passed away November 13, 2019 she was born September 28, 1921 in Detroit. Georgette was preceded in death, by her parents George and Josephine (Hansen) Darlington, Husband Walter J. Stanaszek, Sisters Betty Gates and Marion Konecny. She is survived by her four children, Linda (Jeff) Geml, Jill (Jack) Brown, John Stanaszek (partner Rob Wedler), and James (Lori) Stanaszek, Seven Grandchildren, two Step grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren with another due next month. In addition to her immediate family, she leaves behind a large extended family and multitude of friends. This includes two women that she considered her other daughters, Beth Greene and Tracy Adams. Georgette worked as a telephone operator and then for Peter Eckrich and sons for 43 years from where she retired in 1984. After retirement, she did anything but retire. She loved her social life and never missed an opportunity to spend time with friends, playing bingo, golfing at Eastern Hills and bowling on Tuesday nights at Sunset lanes and then Airway lanes. She was a founding member of the St. Mary’s ladies sodality. She looked forward to traveling almost anywhere and was ready to go at any time. She especially loved her annual trips to Drummond Island, Trout Lake and Greenbush, Michigan. She was renowned for always having her camera at the ready, able to capture her memories and the new ones she was about to create. She never missed an opportunity to tell the stories of her childhood and her days growing up in St. Helen, Hartford and finally Kalamazoo. The family looks forward to greeting guests and sharing memories during a visitation on Monday November 18th at Redmond Funeral home located at 4100 South Westnedge, Kalamazoo, MI, 49008 from 2-4 pm and then from 6-8 pm followed by a rosary at 7:00 pm. On Tuesday, November 19th , there will be a memorial mass at 11:00 am held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church located at 939 Charlotte Ave., Kalamazoo, MI 49048.
