Passed away Thursday, July 18, 2019 surrounded by friends and family at his daughters’ home. George was born in Center Line, MI on April 25, 1925 to Harry and Myrtle Marlatt. George’s Mother passed away when he was 5 and was lovingly raised by Frances Honeywell Marlatt. George attended Kalamazoo Central High School and at the age of 17 enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he rose to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He would retire from the Navy after 23 years as a Veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He would then move on to become a phenomenal salesman and set record sales with Appleton Mills Felt Co. Throughout his life he enjoyed fishing, golfing, writing poetry, reading and was an avid Detroit Tiger fan. One of his greatest attributes was his quick wit, humor and amazing storytelling, which later in life led him to pen his own life story, which he proudly published for friends and family. He was married to the love of his life Janet for 62 years. Together they enjoyed bowling, traveling and casinos. His greatest love was for his Family and God. He was preceded in death by his wife Janet and son Michael. He is survived by his 3 children, Patricia (James) Astalos, David (Nikki) Marlatt and Lori (John) Whitehead. Grandchildren, Danielle (Andrew) Fletcher, Lisa (Gabe) Hodgson, Andrew, Ashley, Logan, Kiera and Michael. 3 Great-Grandchildren, Isabella, Gabriella and Addison and his special companion Joann Johnson.
