Donald Gilbert Lawler 79 of Kalamazoo passed away Friday December 22, 2023 peacefully at Crystal Woods – Park Village Pine, with his wife by his side. He was the son of William and Yvonne (Callagan) Lawler. He graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School and retired from Georgia Pacific after 32 years. Don was a long time member of the Bethel Reformed Church where he served as a Deacon and did custodial work for the church. When Bethel Reformed Closed he then attended Haven Church. He enjoyed stamp collecting, model trains and NASCAR. On February 20, 1965 he was united in marriage to Fay (Weyenberg) Lawler who survives. Also surviving are daughters, Donna (Jeff) Boynton, April (Andy) Simmons: brother, Ron Lawler and nephew Ted Lawler; five grandchildren, Darrin Deal, Christopher Boynton, John, Jacob and Alana Simmons and two great-grandchildren, Aiden Deal and Malachi Boynton. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Yvonne, a sister-in-law, Susie Lawler and nephew Jeff Lawler. Don loved the Lord and read his bible every day. A private family graveside service was held at Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Memorial service will be held at Haven Church 5350 Sprinkle Road on Thursday December 28th visitation 10:30 – 11:30 and service 11:30 with luncheon to follow. Contributions may be made to Haven Church or Centrica Care Navigators.
