Donald O. Beebe

Donald O. Beebe of Portage, age 91, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019 from natural causes. Don was born in Benton Harbor on August 20, 1928, the son of Harry G. and Margaret E. (Wilson) Beebe. He was a veteran having served in the U. S. Naval Reserves for 11 years. He received his Master's in Business Administration at WMU. He retired as a Certified Public Accountant in Portage. He taught accounting at KVCC. Don was a charter member of the Portage United Church of Christ, having served as Treasurer and Financial Secretary for many years. He served the Boy Scouts for over 50 years, first as Scoutmaster of Troop 88 in Portage, then for many years on the Boy Scout Council in the greater Kalamazoo area. He was a member of the National Association of Accountants and the Independent Businessmen's Association. He was a prolific blood donor having donated over 50 gallons. He enjoyed model trains and golfing. Don was preceded in death by his wife Doris whom he married Sept. 6, 1952 in Chicago and died Oct. 22, 2009. He was also preceded by a brother, Phillip Beebe. Don is survived by his children: David Beebe of Crofton, MD, Linda Beebe of Battle Creek and Sarah Beebe of Portage, 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandson, 3 nieces and 1 nephew. Memorial Services will be held at Portage United Church of Christ on Friday, Dec. 6 at 7:00pm with Mary Kay Schueneman officiating.
