DeLouise Florence VanEck

DeLouise F. VanEck of Portage passed away Thursday July 6, 2017 at Brookdale of Portage. DeLouise was born September 9, 1927 in Albion the daughter of John and Clara (Fernholz) Finnegan. She was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church where she put in many volunteer hours and mission work, she enjoyed making rosaries, gardening, synchronized swimming, quilting, crocheting and making lap ropes for the cancer society. On April 19, 1948 in Albion DeLouise was united in marriage to Robert VanEck who preceded her in death on December 28, 2006. Also preceding her are three children, Rick VanEck, Teri Bennett, John VanEck; three brothers, Franklin, Jack, Pat Finnegan; two sisters, Annie and Aggie; son-in-law, Jim Halfmann. Surviving are a daughter, Carol Halfmann of St. Johns; three sisters, Emmie Riske of Concord, Mary Ann Huggett of Marshall, Jimmie Huggett of Marshall; daughter-in-laws, Bobbie VanEck, Reatha VanEck; son-in-law, Phyl Bennett; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; many nieces & nephews. Friends will be received 2-4 & 6-8 pm Monday July 10, 2017 with a Rosary at 7:30 pm at Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S. Westnedge Ave. Kalamazoo, MI 49008 (269) 343-6156.
