David A. Minier, 79, of Battle Creek, MI died peacefully in his home on Friday morning January 3, 2020. He was born in Battle Creek on October 3, 1940 to Kenneth and Vera (Gibson) Minier and moved with the family to Reed City, MI where he graduated from Reed City High School. David lived his life in service to others, both in work and home life. He worked for the Sherriff’s department in Reed City, MI. He served in the United State Army and was a police officer for 30 years for the Bedford Township police Department where he retired. Later in life he cared for his ailing wife, an ex-in-law, and 2 sisters. Anything they needed, he was there. David was united in marriage to Mary (Wellons) Minier in Battle Creek, on August 14th. She preceded him in death on February 16, 2009. He was also preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Christina Wallace; 2 brothers, Don and Jim Minier; and 3 sisters, Marilyn Beronja, Joyce VanBlarecum, and Mary Kidder. Surviving is his daughter, Rise Thompson of San Diego; 3 grandchildren, David Wallace, Branson Thompson and Jordan (Ana) Thompson; 2 great grandchildren, Bane Thompson and Anthony Resendiz-Thompson; 2 brothers, Carl Minier and Kenneth (Bonnie) Minier; sister Bonnie (Ivan) Giese; numerous nieces and nephews. David was a Detroit Tigers fan and enjoyed watching baseball with the family at Bailey Park for the Stan Musial World Series as well as other events. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage, doing yard work, working the grill and country music. He loved fishing, hunting with his partner Chelle Giese and the annual family campout. Most recently he spent his time with his military buddies, the Bushwhackers, at the gun range in Battle Creek. He most especially treasured time spent with family both near and far.
