David E. Kitchen

David Emmanuel Kitchen, 73, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 13, 2025, at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI. 

David was born on June 13, 1951, in La Jolla, CA to his parents, Bruce and Marie Kitchen.

He was a well-known building carpentry contractor, specializing in the framing of new homes. 

David was also an avid surfer with the nickname “Big Wave Dave”, surfing the East and West coasts as far as Mexico and even pursuing the sport he loved on the shores of Lake Michigan. 

He had a great love of fashion and of automobiles. He owned many vehicles during his life and always dressed well. 

He was a devout follower of Jesus Christ and an involved Christian. 

Preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Marie (Pionke) Kitchen, as well as half brothers and sisters Bruce Kitchen Jr., Gaylord Kitchen, Rosalie (Kitchen) Smith, and Larry Kitchen. 

He is survived by brother Michael Kitchen and half sister and brother Eleanore Carter and Patrick Carter, and many nieces and nephews. 

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be a private memorial service for family.
