In memory of Darlene Mae Hunkins she leaves behind her family and many friends. They have been a blessing in her life. She enjoyed making cards and many other crafts, reading, music, and watching movies (chick flicks). Darlene loved working with special needs children and worked for Comstock Public Schools and the Foster Grandparent Program (Senior Services) for many years. She raised funds for American Diabetes for 10 years, and walking across the finish line at one of the American Diabetes walks was a great accomplishment for her. Darlene was born in Hague, VA January 13, 1946 in her aunt’s home to Arthur and Edna Myrteen Hunkins. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother David Hunkins, and sister Arlene Hunkins. Darlene is survived by her son Steven (Michelle) Hunkins, brother Mark (Terrie) Hunkins, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. A life celebration will be held at Redmond Funeral Home on March 24, 2018 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM. A private graveside service will take place at Riverside Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to American Diabetes, American Heart Association, or American Lung Association.
