Carol Beurkens-Borden

Carol Beurkens-Borden was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on September 30th,1948 to Bernice Visser Beurkens and Marvin Beurkens. Bernice later married Ralph Borden and he adopted her and her brothers. Carol adored Ralph and took his last name. 

Carol graduated with a bachelor's from Central Michigan University and then received her master's from Western Michigan University. She taught physical education at Paw Paw High School for 30 years. After retirement, she continued teaching at Croydon School for several years. She also volunteered at Be My Eyes.  Carol enjoyed kayaking, walking at the dog park and Fish Hatchery, and Friday night Euchre with her friends.She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Bernice Borden and her siblings, Larry Beurkens, David Beurkens, Barb Atherton, and Mike Borden along with several treasured pets. She leaves to cherish her memory her nephew Daniel Beurkens, and nieces Kristen (Kevin) Earvin, Erin (Brad) VandenBos, and Karen (Joshua) Ganzevoort. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and her siblings Greg (Carol) Borden, RD (Kim) Borden, and Pat (Brenda) Borden.  Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at her home on January 27th, 2024 from 1-4pm.  In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Stacy @ Pet Resource Network in Otsego or New Hope Pet Rescue.
