Bernadette “Bonnie” Emmons, 83, of Battle Creek, formerly of Kalamazoo, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2024, on her 83rd birthday. Bonnie was born September 3, 1941 in Chicago, the daughter of Edward and Bernadette (Passmore) Walsh. Bonnie was united in marriage to Robert Bay on October 8, 1960 in Round Lake, Illinois. Sadly, Bob passed away on January 31, 2008. Bonnie found love a second time when she met Jack Emmons and they were wed in 2010. Bonnie was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church in Kalamazoo until her move to Battle Creek where she became a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Battle Creek.
Bonnie is survived by four children, Kathleen Meyer of Battle Creek, Brian (Martha) Bay of Kalamazoo, Martin Bay of Kalamazoo and Susan (Jeffrey) McVay-Orr of Battle Creek; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; a brother, Chuck Walsh of Ingleside IL; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Ed Walsh, her husband Robert Bay in 2008, and her husband Jack Emmons in 2016.
Family and friends may gather from 4-7 PM Thursday, September 12, 2024 at the Adams – Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S. Westnedge Ave., Kalamazoo. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM Friday, September 13, 2024 at St. Monica Catholic Church, 4408 S. Westnedge Ave., Kalamazoo. Interment will follow at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
