Bennie Ray First passed away unexpectedly at his home in Kalamazoo, MI on June 15, 2021. Bennie was born June 8, 1955 to parents Bennie Gene First and Gwendolyn Rae (Crawford) First in Inglewood, California. His parents, grandparents, and special aunt, Kay Wilder proceeded him in death. Bennie is survived by his sister Linda Walker, nephews Louis and Jonathan. And uncle Tom Wilder. Bennie was witty, kind, and giving. To say that he would give a guy the shirt off his back is an understatement. Bennie donated to several veterans and public safety organizations as well as children’s hospitals and cancer research. He enjoyed television programs about nature, cares, motorcycles, home renovations, old western movies, and classic rock. But his true passion was trains, particularly steam engine trains. An avid collector of scale models in several sizes, occasionally one ran through his apartment off and on for several weeks. Bennie will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Cremation has already taken place. Services will be at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to any of the following: Kalamazoo Cuff and Ladder Fund, Talon’s Out Honor Flight Inc., or Bronson Children’s Hospital.
