Don Gene Brocato

Don “ Gene “ Brocato of Kalamazoo Passed away Thursday March 9, 2017 at Rose Arbor Hospice. Gene was born August 30, 1930 in Kalamazoo, the son of Justin and Irene ( Locey ) Brocato. He graduated from WMU and was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. Gene retired from National Biscuit Co and was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus 1616. He enjoyed  gardening, antiques and vacationing at the beach in South Haven with his family. On June 17, 1961 in Kalamazoo, Gene was united in Marriage to the former Susan Saum who survives. Also surviving is his daughter Catherine ( Ross ) Dristy of Kalamazoo; four grandchildren Katie ( Steve ) Dristy- Williams, Kristina Dristy, Joseph Castleberry, James Castleberry; two sisters Gloria Thompson and Sally Clemens; son-in-law, William Castleberry; niece, Lucy Clemens; two nephews, Eric & Seth Rosenberg. He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Brocato and a daughter Sally Castleberry. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated 10:30 am Wednesday March 15, 2017 at St. Monica Catholic Church. Interment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Rose Arbor Hospice. Arrangements by Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S.
