Claudia M. Barrett of Kalamazoo Passed away peacefully Saturday evening on, December 3, 2016 at Bronson Hospital. She was surrounded by her immediate family. Claudia was born May 4, 1948 in Syracuse, NY. The daughter of Raymond and Connie (Ciero) Pearson. Claudia was a very special woman who touched the hearts and lives of countless people and was loved by all. She retired from Paw Paw Village Police Dept., where she served as the office manager. She was always active, whether it was cooking, gardening, helping others, reading or genealogy. Among her many special interests were traveling to visit family and serving as the historian for the Pueblo POW/veterans group. Claudia especially loved spending long hours at the beach in South Haven, with her friend Stephanie. Claudia was preceded in death by her parents; husband Michael Barrett of 26 years; brother, Thomas (Pat) Pearson. Surviving are her sons, Christopher Burnham of Washington, Martin (Audra) Bedecs of Montana, C. Nathan Bedecs of Galesburg; step-son, Dan Barrett of Kalamazoo; step-daughter, Suzi Porter of Galesburg; brothers, Charles (Nancy Baca) Pearson of Kalamazoo, Robert Pearson of Houston, TX; sisters, Susan Joliff of Mishawaka, IN, Cathleen (Stephen) King of Galesburg, Mary (Bill) Allen of Healy, AK; step-sister, Mary Beauchamp of Otsego; grandchildren, Blake, Collin, Christopher, Caleb, Helena, Shaina; great-grandchildren, Christopher and Clara; life-long friend of 60 years, Stephanie (Kloosterman) Bordeaux. Friends will be received 12-2 & 6-8 pm Wednesday Dec. 7, 2016 at Redmond Funeral Home. Services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016 at 11 AM. Followed by internment at Custer National and a gathering of friends and family at Comstock VFW. Memorial contributions may be made to West Michigan Cancer Center, Kalamazoo Alano Club or Battle Creek VA Medical Center.
