Donald E. Wehner, our beloved father passed away on Tuesday September 20, 2016 with his children and grandchildren beside him. Don was born September 24, 1932 in Manistique, the son of Mark and Ethel (Goudreau) Wehner. He was a Korean War veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. Don retired after many years of service in the Michigan the Dept. of Transportation. Beside his full-time management position, Don also worked part-time over the years as an officer with the New Buffalo Police Dept. and as a reserve deputy sheriff with Berrien County. He was also a paramedic, firefighter, and a professional photographer. Most recently, Don was the owner of Chaparrel Used Books. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 36 years and the mother of his eight children, Darlene (Story) Wehner. He was also preceded in death by his brother Leonard Wehner, sister Ruth Evans, and brother Michael Beaudin . After losing his wife, Darlene, Don was reunited with his high school sweetheart, Janet (Stephens) Wehner whom he married on June 16, 1995. Don has four sons; Donald Wehner Jr. (Deborah) of Allegan, Willard Wehner of Ovid, Mark (Lisa) Wehner of Lansing, Ryan (Kylea) Wehner of Ft. Collins, CO; Four daughters, Deborah (Bill) Chassee of Richland, Annette (Duane) Holmquest of Louiseville, KY, Mary Hemenway of Holland,MI and Kristine (Jeff) Roske of Madison, WI; 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. His step-children; Michael (Patricia) Guevara of Las Vegas, NV; Yvonne (Mel) Reeves of Marshall, Debra Battersby of Park City, UT, Joan (Robert) Leo of Kalamazoo, Jennifer (David) VanderKlock of Okemos; 18 step-grandchildren and 7 step great-grandchildren.
