Joan Elaine Roodbergen

Joan E. Roodbergen of Scotts, passed away Tuesday May 10, 2016 at home. Joan was born November 8, 1933 in Kalamazoo the daughter of LeRoy and Iva (Palmateer) Morris. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church for 60 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Albert Roodbergen whom she married June 25, 1955. Also preceding in death were her brothers, LeRoy, Jr. and Jerome Morris. Joan is survived by her children: Kathy (Jim) Sootsman of Portage, Richard (Mary) Roodbergen of White Lake Twp, MI, Joe (Lori) Roodbergen of Galesburg, Theresa Roodbergen of Kalamazoo; grandchildren: Sarah Smith, Sharon Sootsman, James “JJ” (Jessica) Sootsman, Nicholas and Josephine Roodbergen, David (Jamie) Roodbergen, Shannon (Mitch) Burke, Jericho (Brooke) Keeler, Jessica Keeler; 13 great grandchildren; sister, Carol (Myron) Miller; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Mullin and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received 5-8 pm Thursday May 12, 2016 at Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S. Westnedge Ave. Kalamazoo, MI 49008 (269) 343-6156 where a Rosary will be recited at 7:30. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 am Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of S/W.
