Douglas Alan Pardee

Douglas A. Pardee of Parchment passed away Monday May 2, 2016 at Borgess Medical Center. Doug was born June 1, 1948 in Kalamazoo the son of Ivan and Irene (Bouwman) Pardee. He was a 1966 graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School and a 1968 Graduate of Ferris State College. Doug was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He played trombone in The River Cities Concert Band in Otsego and was a firefighter for Northwood Fire Department and from 1975-2006 for the City of Parchment where he retired as assistant chief, he was a member of the Kalamazoo County Firefighters Association, Parchment United Methodist Church where he was a member of the choir, Kalamazoo Rod and Gun Club, he enjoyed woodworking, kayaking, cross country skiing, hunting, fishing and biking. On July 1, 2001 in Parchment Doug was united in marriage to the former Valzora Miller, who survives. Also surviving is his mother, Irene Pardee of Kalamazoo; two sons, Brian (Alison) Pardee of Del Rio, TX, Mark (Maya) Pardee of Piesport, Germany; two daughters, Dawn (Scott) Shurter of Kalamazoo, Tina Funkey of Vicksburg; 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and a grandson. Friends will be received 2-4 & 6-8 pm Thursday May 5, 2016 at Parchment Redmond Funeral Home, 2300 East "G" Ave. Parchment, MI 49004 (269) 349-7735. Services will be held 1 pm Friday at Parchment United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery.
