John Bogard

John Bogard of Kalamazoo passed away Monday March 28, 2016 at Borgess Medical Center. John was born June 9, 1933 in Kalamazoo the son of John and Katie (DeSmit) Bogard, Sr. He was a Korean War veteran serving in the U.S. Army. John was formerly employed at Site Gas Station, Wayne Feed Co. and retired from Burroughs Mfg. he enjoyed camping, gardening and traveling. On January 24, 1953 in Kalamazoo John was united in marriage to the former Linda Gorham who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Janice (John) Smiertka of Kalamazoo, Patricia (Douglas) Brooks of South Bend, IN; three grandchildren, James and Julia Smiertka and Melissa Brooks; sister, Catherine Porter; several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Bogard in 2001; two sisters, Helen Mowrer and Ann Davis. Friends are being received 10:00 – 11:00 am Saturday April 2, 2016 at Parchment Redmond Funeral Home 2300 East "G" Ave. Parchment, MI 49004 (269) 349-7735 where services will be held following at 11:00 am.
