Joseph Paul McDonnell

Joseph Paul McDonnell of Kalamazoo passed away February 20, 2016. Paul was born in Great Falls, MT on July 26, 1916, the son of Joseph Patrick and Anna Dorthea (Auerbach) McDonnell. He was Manager of a FAA Flight Inspection Field Office. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during WW II. He was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church, had a passion for flying, enjoyed golf and a good game of Texas Hold Em. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers: John, Norman, Tom and David. Paul is survived by his wife Peggy J. whom he married Nov. 26, 1949 in Chicago; 7 children: Joseph (Shawn) McDonnell of Portage, Stephen McDonnell of Augusta, Tim (Marla) McDonnell of St. Joseph, Kathleen (Frank) Damanskas of Novi, Jean McDonnell, Mary (Bill) Quinn all of Kalamazoo and Anne (David) Marra of NJ, 6 grandchildren, sister; Mary Nielsen of Tucson, AZ; brothers Bob McDonnell of Bellingham Washington and Rev. Kilian McDonnell of Collegeville MN and several nieces and nephews. Family and Friends will be received Wed. February 24, 2016 from 9:30 until 10:30 am at St. Monica Catholic Church Where Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am. Rev. Fr. Robert Consani celebrant. A luncheon will follow immediately after mass in the community building. Memorials may be made to St. Monica Church, Hackett Catholic Prep or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
