Theodore Robert Thornton

Theodore Robert Thornton of Kalamazoo passed away Friday, February 19, 2016 at Heartland Nursing Home. Ted was born May 1, 1933 in Benton Harbor the son of Theodore and Ella (Jones) Thornton. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School after being involved in many sports activities; he later joined the U.S. Air Force where he was a Vietnam veteran. After the military he worked at a bowling alley then as a mechanic and retired after 16 years for the Redmond Funeral Home. Ted was united in marriage to Virginia Stuart who preceded him in death in 2012, he was also preceded in death by two step-sons, Harry and Perry Stuart; brother, Tom; two sisters, Betty and Pat. Surviving are three daughters, Kathy Fike, Karen Cassells, Susan Brooks; step daughter, Ellen Deal; two step sons, Alfred and Jimmy Stuart; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews. Friends will be received Tuesday February 23, 2016 from 10-10:30 am at Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S. Westnedge Ave. Kalamazoo, MI 49008 (269) 343-6156. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 at Ft.
