Passed away Sunday February 7, 2016 at home. Harley was born September 20, 1929 in Kalamazoo the son of Harley and Marie (Leonard) Pierman. He was a Korean War veteran serving in the U.S. Army, he retired from the Upjohn Company and was a member and Captain for Kalamazoo Township Fire Department from 1965 – 1988 as one of the originators of Northwood Station. He enjoyed wintering in Florida and small engine repair. He was united in marriage in 1952 to the former Shirley Hills who preceded him in death in 1985. He was then united in marriage to the former Betty Bowsher who survives. Also surviving, son Steven (Patti) Pierman of Portage, grandchildren, Denisha Pierman, Brannon (Amy) Pierman. Son Randy (Mary) Pierman of Grand Rapids, grandchild Sarah Pierman. Special daughter, Patty (Ronald) Mulder of Traverse City. Betty's children and spouses, Barbara (Russ) Ely, Patty (Stanley) Zimojski, Robert (Theresa) Bowsher and Carol Doxtater. Two sisters, Jackie Beck of Comstock,, Barbara Buell of Kalamazoo. Many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Robert and Donald; two sisters, Shirley Timmer and Bernadette Garlanger. Friends will be received Wednesday February 10, 2016 from Noon to 1 pm at Parchment Redmond Funeral Home, 2300 East "G" Ave. Parchment, MI 49004 (269) 349-7735 where services will be held at 1 pm. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery at a later date. Following the service the family will celebrate Harley's life at Westwood Fire Station "Community Room".
