Frederick Dale Crawford

A beloved husband and father, Fred passed from this life on January 2, 2016 at Alamo Nursing Home. Fred was born and raised in Kalamazoo, on October 8, 1942, the loving son of Frank and Mabel (Phillips) Crawford. Above any worldly achievements or possessions, Fred considered his family to be his greatest treasure. On September 10, 1977, he married Rosemary M. Noonan who survives. Their first dance together as a married couple was Color My World by Chicago, and anyone familiar with the lyrics to that song will agree that their world was most certainly colored with love. Fred had an appreciation for art and gardening, which lives on in his firstborn daughter, Susan (Chuck) Van Boers of Escondido , CA. His loving heart and gentle spirit is still with us in his second daughter, Laura, (James) Herrera, of Temecula, CA. Fred was a very well read man and at a time, dreamed of teaching, and those thoughts came to fruition in his third daughter, Rebecca (Roberto) DelBusto of Chula Vista, CA. His strong passion and devotion to the Detroit Lions and FOX News was no secret, and his fourth daughter, Katheryn (Timothy) Liby of Kalamazoo shares her father's joy and enthusiasm in the same. Most of Fred's career life was spent working in sales. He was a people person and had a gift for making easy conversation with anyone and everyone. His fifth daughter, Anne (Jeffery) Hicks of Kalamazoo, continues to extend her father's love and interest in people in the same easy manner in her own career in sales. Fred has been blessed with nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild, and his pride and love for them twinkled in the peace of his smiling eyes. It is easy for us to know that Fred's "life is changed, not ended". Friends will be received 6:00-9:00 pm Friday January 8, 2016 at Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S. Westnedge Ave. Kalamazoo, MI 49008 (269) 343-6156. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:30 am Saturday at St. Monica Catholic Church in Kalamazoo, where he and Rose are members. Interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery-North. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
