Virginia K. Hellner of Portage, passed away Monday November 2, 2015 at Borgess Medical Center. Virginia was born June 20, 1921 in Mt. Clemens, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Couchez) Peltier. She was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church, past president of the St. Monica’s Women’s Club, Volunteered at Provincial House and Kalamazoo Psychiatric Hospital. Virginia enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge, bowling, golfing and traveling. She was united in marriage for over 52 years to Francis A. Hellner who preceded her in death in 1999. She is survived by three sons, Lawrence (Casilda) Hellner of Portage, Gregory (Renee) Hellner of Leesburg, VA, Dr. Patrick (Gail) Hellner of Stevensville; two daughters, Francine Bis of Littleton, CO, Kathleen (Keith) Gremban of Highlands Ranch, CO; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Rosalie Caldwell of Portage. She was preceded in death by three brothers; James, Daniel, Constance Peltier; sister, Adelle D’Luge; son-in-law, John Bis. Friends & family are being received 5-8 pm Thursday November 5, 2015 at Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S. Westnedge Ave. Kalamazoo, MI 49008 (269) 343-6156 where a Rosary will be recited at 7:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 am Friday at St. Monica Catholic Church. Interment will be 11 am Saturday at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Mt. Clemens.
