David L. Mattingly

David L. Mattingly of Kalamazoo passed away October 18, 2015 in Battle Creek. David was born in Jackson, Michigan on Nov. 6, 1957 the son of Donald and Betty (McGinness) Mattingly. He worked at General Motors. David was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church, he was a Red Cross lifeguard at the age of 14; he played 4 years of basketball and football at Hackett Catholic Prep, where he graduated in 1975; rode his motorcycle from Kalamazoo to Colorado to live with his brother for a couple of years, he enjoyed the quiet peace of nature, loved to swim and loved animals. He was preceded in death by his parents in 2014. David is survived by 6 siblings: Barbara (Mike) Johnson, Steve (Blanca) Mattingly, Diana (Mark) Petersen, Sharon (David) Hudson, Richard (Barbara) Mattingly and Sandra Mattingly: 15 nieces & nephews: Kevin, Kelly, Krista, Kate, Amy, Joseph, Sarah, Dannielle, Amber, Shane, Tyler, Mara, Ryan, Michael and Alex; 6 great nieces & nephews: Aspen, Harper, Gavin, Isabelle, Nolan and Carson. Family and friends will be received Friday Oct.23, 2015 from 6 until 8pm at the Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S. Westnedge Ave. Kalamazoo, MI 49008 (269) 343-6156, where the rosary will be recited at 7:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 am, Saturday Oct. 24, 2015 at St. Monica Catholic Church, Fr. Robert Consani Celebrant. Interment will be in Mt. Ever – Rest Memorial Park.
