Roman S. Jasiak of Mattawan, passed away Tuesday, August 04, 2015 at Bronson Commons. Roman was born August 14, 1917 in Chicago, IL the son of Stanley and Victorya (Tadel) Jasiak. He graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School where he was in the marching band, attended MSU and was active in the CCC at Camp Custer. Roman was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Army where he received a Bronze Star for the Ryukyus Island Campaign. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Kalamazoo and was a Life member of the Knights of Columbus. He was united in marriage to Kathryn Kovak who preceded him in death in 1944 then to Catherine Leamy in 1970 who preceded him in death in 2010. He is survived by a step-son, Lawrence (Mari Lynn) Leamy of Marshall; step-daughter, Linda (Charles) Mony of Climax; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; nephew Bernard Siwik of Myrtle Beach, SC; two nieces, Mari Lynn Leamy of Marshall, Jennifer Brown of Mattawan. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Victoria Popp; 2 sisters, Emily Pursel, Helen Siwik; brother Edward Jasiak; niece, Frances (Robert) Haiduk; step-daughter, Lorraine (Charles) Bruynstens. Graveside services will be held 11 am, Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Kalamazoo Knights of Columbus.
