James O. Hiestand of Kalamazoo, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Life Care Center of Plainwell. James was born May 31, 1936 in Allegan, the son of Arthur and Frances (Jameson) Hiestand and grew up on a farm on M-89 in Plainwell. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served from 1959 to 1961. James retried from Burroughs Corp after 44 years as a quality inspector. On May 9, 1959 in Plainwell James was united in marriage to the former Dorline Falor who preceded him in death in 2007. Surviving is a son James (Lindsey) Hiestand of Kalamazoo; two daughters, Thelma (Randy) Laws of Parchment, Becky Wyman of Kalamazoo; six grandchildren, Renee, Carson, Meagan, Morgan, Gracie and Emma; several great-grandchildren. James was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. One of his passions was to catch bluegill on his fly rod. James owned many vehicles over the years and took great pride in keeping them looking immaculate. Friends are being received 10-11 am Tuesday June 16, 2015 at Parchment Redmond Funeral Home where services will be held at 11 am. Interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest- North Cemetery.
