Mary Agatha Sieklucki

Mary A. Sieklucki of Kalamazoo, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015 in Alamo Nursing Home. Mary was born Sept. 28, 1921 in Kalamazoo the daughter of Ciro and Catherine (Dugo) Barone. She graduated from St. Augustine High School and Nazareth College and was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church. On Dec. 8, 1943 in Jamaica, NY Mary was united in marriage to Sigmund (Lucky) Sieklucki who preceded her in death on Feb. 3, 1973. Mary and Lucky opened Lucky’s Pizzeria, the first pizzeria in Kalamazoo in 1956. She taught at the Villa St. Anthony in Comstock, St. Joseph Catholic School, St. Monica Catholic School and opened several Pre-School Centers, Merry Pre-School, Kitty Campus-Michigan Young World, and established and directed Nazareth College Pres School Center. Since retiring from St. Monica’s School in 1992 she enjoyed substitute teaching and hosted the visually impaired group program at Hope Woods Apartments. Surviving are two daughters, Alice (Lane) Smous of Portage, Mary Kay (James) Murphy of Milford; son, James (Susan) Sieklucki of Kalamazoo; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers. Friends will be received 3-8 pm, Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S. Westnedge Ave. Kalamazoo, MI 49008 (269) 343-6156 where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 am Thursday at St. Monica Catholic Church. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Monica Church. www.redmondfuneralhomes.net
